이탈리아 기적적으로 53년 만에 유로 2020 우승했다.
유로 2020이 작년부터 시작해서 어느덧 결승을 치르고 대막을 내렸다. 축구를 사랑하는 사람이라면 축구 강국이 밀집되어 있는 유럽 축구에 관심이 없을 수 없다. 특히 승부가 결정 나면서 결승까지 올라오는 가운데 강력한 우승 두 후보가 붙어서 더 큰 관심을 불러일으켰다.
12(일) 이탈리아가 영국 런던의 웸블리 스타디움에서 열린 유로 2020 결승에서 잉글랜드를 꺾고 우승컵을 들었다. 얼마 전 뉴스에서는 유로 2020의 열기 과열로 인하여 방역수칙이 무너졌으며 지키지 않는 모습에 놀란 사람도 많았다. 그럼에도 불구하고 계속해서 진행되었던 유로 2020은 마지막 결승전을 치렀다.
첫 골은 전반 2분, 휘슬을 불고 1분 57초 만에 잉글랜드 선수 루크 쇼가 오른쪽 크로스을 받아 왼발 논스톱으로 첫 골을 따냈다. 전반은 1:0으로 잉글랜드가 앞서고 있었다. 후반전이 시작하고 나서는 22분 보누치가 동점골을 뽑았다. 마지막 결승전답게 연장전까지 갔지만, 승부를 가리지 못하고 결국 승부차기까지 이어졌다. 격전 끝에 이탈리아 골키퍼 잔루이지 돈나룸마에게 막히며 3-2로 이탈리아가 승리를 거머쥐었다.
어느덧 코로나로 인해서 이동제한 통제 명령부터 시작해, 여러 가지 방역이 이루어지는 것도 만 2년이 넘었다. 사람이 많이 모이지도 못하며 '코로나 블루'라는 말이 나오듯이 우울함 속에서 지내는 나날이 늘고 있었는데, 한 편으로는 유로 2020으로 인하여 통쾌한 대리만족도 느꼈지만, 여러 모로 씁쓸함도 있었던 것이 사실이다. 코로나가 종식되어서 생생한 현장을 느끼는 그날이 오면 좋겠다.
